This freely distributed program program allows the user to view MS Word for Windows 6.x Document files even if you don't own MS Word. The Word Viewer is designed to make it easy to exchange Microsoft Word documents with other people. It allows you to open, view and print Word for Windows (versions 1.0 or greater through version 6.x) and Word for the Macintosh« (versions 4.0 or greater) files. Word Viewer will not allow you to edit a document, however.
After downloading, type WORDVIEW to extract files. Refer to INSTALL.TXT for installation instructions: Create a directory on your hard drive where you want to run the program. Copy the WV.EXE file to that directory. Type WV to extract and run the install program. This viewer requires OLE 2.01 or later. If you don't have this version of OLE, the install program will add it for you. If you get a message when trying to run the viewer that states you do not have enough memory, it may be because you're using OLE 2.0 or earlier. Refer to INSTALL.TXT for instructions on manually updating your OLE version.
